How do you make sense of it all?
The World Wide Web (otherwise known as WWW) is a bunch of information pages linked together. They are browsed by using a search engine. These are computers attached to the Internet that keep track of web pages and what they are about. You can use the above box to search for a particular subject on the web. Just type in some key words in the box and press the submit button with your mouse.
The original Wired Internet newbie page connected this search box directly to Alta Vista. Since Alta Vista is no longer operating, the Wired2 revival now sends Web searches to a current Web search engine and Usenet searches to Google Groups.
